The Muslim Community in the Western Region on Friday took to the streets of Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis to protest what they call human right abuses of Muslim students in the country.
The demonstrators numbering over 300 were given strict police protection throughout the process.
The event started immediately after Friday prayers at the Takoradi Airforce Mosque.
Muslims in the country have called on schools in country not to infringe on the rights of Muslim by forcing them to attend Sunday church activities.
Secondary school girls were seen with placards with inscriptions such as “Hijab my pride,” “Respect our rights,” “Respect Ghana’s constitution freedom of worship” among others.
Various Muslim unions such as the Ghana Muslim Students Association and other groups took part in the march.
They will present a petition to the Western Regional Minister, Paul Evans Aidoo after the demonstration.
The demonstration caused heavy vehicular traffic.
