Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan has admitted that he urgently needs more games in order to return to his best form for club side Al Ain.

Gyan played through illness and injury to help the Black Stars win silver at the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea but laboured to make an impact on his return to club football.

Gyan was was helpless as his side lost to Al Fujairah by 1-0 on Thursday night.

The game was Gyan’s first in two months but he surprisingly lasted the full ninety minutes.

After the match head coach of Al-Ain Zlatko Dalic explained that Gyans lengthy absence from club football coupled with his injuries required that he was given maximum game time to quickly build up his fitness and match sharpness.

“I knew Gyan would not be able to play at his usual level because he has been away from the team for two months.

“But I made sure to play him from the beginning in order to prepare him for future games,” Dalic said.

The defeat sees Al Ain drop to 2nd place  on the Arabian Gulf League Log with 36 points from 16 games played.
