Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region say they will embark on a demonstration exercise on February 24, to thank President John Dramani Mahama for the enormous development projects he has initiated in the region.

[contextly_sidebar id=”8tTBMAuGEOBpqPYWFkYFGGFpHacsDuoW”]This they say is because the president has done a lot for the region, which must be highlighted.

The Police in the Ashanti Region gave the clearance to the Organized Youth of Ashanti (OYA) affiliated to the NDC and the Movement for Change (MFC) of the NPP to embark on a demonstration exercise in the region on February 24 and 25 respectively.

This follows an earlier demonstration organized by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Accra to protest their displeasure over what they say is the power crisis and the worsening economic conditions in the country.

In a twist of event, Raymond Tandor, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC speaking on Eyewitness News said though they are aware that “the power crisis is a national problem notwithstanding there are a lot of projects going on behind it and we need to highlight it and outline some of the challenges we are facing.”

He said some of the project include “Mampong water project, the Jute factory, the Airport rehabilitation, the Kwahu water project, road networks and a lot of others.”
