The University of Ghana branch of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has condemned the actions of the National Security Coordinator, Lt. Col. Larry Gbevlo Lartey describing it as an incident, which reminds “people of the harrowing days of military dictatorship.”

They has since served notice that they “will resist and confront anybody who attempts to trample on their rights.”

This follows the demolition of the toll booth at the entrance of the University of Ghana on Tuesday by some national security operatives led by Gbevlo Lartey.

A statement signed by the leadership of UTAG cautioned political appointees to note that “Ghana is a democratic country, governed by democratic principles and ideals and not by brute force and the use of arms.”
