The Jang Divisional Youth Association has registered its displeasure over what it referred to as “manipulative tactics” adopted by the Nadowli-Kaleo Member of Parliament, Mr. Alban Bagbin, to rob them of a Community Day Senior High School (SHS).

[contextly_sidebar id=”ooEAHW4hWVrxeV8t8K4mLvdKVlX0P9aP”]The Association said Mr Bagbin, in a radio interview on Radio Progress, tried to impose on his constituents where the Community Day SHS should be sited when the matter had already been concluded by stakeholders including the District Assembly, Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ministry of Education.

The Association at a press conference led by the Chairman, Mr. Martin D. Jatoe, appealed to Mr. Bagbin to take his eyes off the Community Day SHS and find another way to fulfill his promise of getting the Naro community a SHS.

He said the current Community Day SHS was awarded to the district by the government and that the district had appropriately decided on where it should be sited and all including the MP must respect that decision.

Mr. Jatoe said when the school was allocated to the district, a stakeholders’ meeting was convened per the instruction of the Ministry of Education to discuss the siting of the school.

He said at the meeting, it came out clearly that the eastern corridor of the district was without a SHS, hence, the decision by the stakeholders to site the school in Jang Area Council.

“The youth of Jang Divisional Area were shocked when Honourable Bagbin misled the good people in the district in his radio interview that the siting of the community Day SHS for the district had already been decided and cited at Naro,” he said.

This statement by the MP, he said, was causing the Naro people to rise up and cause confusion when initially they did not see the need to because it was a decision taken by the entire district.

He said a copy of the letter from the Ministry of Education proved the MP’s assertion as false and should be treated as such.
