A former Member of Parliament for Ekumfi in the Central Region, has denied launching a campaign to contest the seat as an independent candidate in the 2016 elections.
Reports said, Mr. Kuntu Blankson who lost his seat in the NDC primaries ahead of the 2012 elections, over the weekend reportedly launched his campaign to win the seat back.
However speaking on Eyewitness News, Mr. Blankson denied such reports, saying,“I don’t know where reports of my independence is coming from and I have not launched any campaign as an independent candidate.”
He noted that it will be impossible for him to even launch his campaign since the ban on nomination had not been yet lifted.
“They have not lifted the ban on nomination and for that matter I cannot go and do anything of that sort. I have not launched any campaign. I’m still an NDC member and I will remain an NDC member. I am not going for any independence
He stated that becoming an MP is a call to duty and service to mankind, adding that noting will refrain him from serving as an MP “when the time is due”
