The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency and branch executives in the Gambaga/Nalerigu constituency of the Northern Region will go on a demonstration on February 28, 2015.

The intended demonstration is to back calls for the dismissal of the District Chief Executive for East Mamprusi District, Adam Imoro.

[contextly_sidebar id=”DFkIgDuyXlSWNIUrX4hEkofNfccmmTTn”]The constituency and ward executives earlier petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to sack the East Mamprusi DCE.

Among several allegations, they accused the DCE of adding ghost names to the School Feeding Programme and using the proceeds to finance his private lotto business.

The constituency Secretary Iddrisu Sampah in a Citi News interview recalled, “earlier on we the executives of the NDC petitioned the President for the removal of the DCE for East Mamprusi District, Imoro Adam and looking at things we have just realized that the presidency and for that matter the government is not ready to heed to the call: we are therefore going to hit the streets of Nalerigu and Gambaga on the 28th of February to actually drum home this particular demand.”

He warned that no amount of persuasion will convince them to rescind their decision.

“All the streets of Nalerigu and Gambaga will be occupied by the branch, ward and constituency executives of the party.”

Iddrisu Sampah maintained that the NDC was losing its grasp of the Gambaga/Nalerigu constituency.

“In fact the NDC is collapsing in this particular constituency of Nalerigu/Gambaga: it is collapsing very fast and we think that something must be done by the President immediately and very fast to remove this man before things get very late.”

He reiterated calls for forensic audit into the East Mamprusi District Assembly accounts and that of the School Feeding Programme.

“In fact we also want a forensic audit to be conducted into the affairs of the common fund especially the School Feeding Programme.”

The aggrieved NDC Gambaga/Nalerigu executives have already laid down their tools.

Landlord of the constituency office has chased them out due to accumulated rent arrears.

Currently, the NDC can only boast of two out of five Parliamentary seats in Mamprugu land in the Northern Region which is the traditional home of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s thrice running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
