Tuna SHS teacher who forced girl to strip granted bail

The Northern Regional Police has cautioned and released on bail a male teacher who asked a female student of the Tuna Senior High Technical School in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District to strip naked.

The teacher whose identity is yet to be revealed asked the student to strip naked for dressing inappropriately.

His directive provoked other students who went on rampage, destroying several school properties.

[contextly_sidebar id=”8DNOAosNp0RMymUubqLKVNdLMuFfgYIy”]Speaking to Citi News, the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Divisional Police Commander, ASP Francis Numado said the accused was granted bail because is was a common assault case.

“We invited him and took his statement..It was an assault case and assault is not anything rare so we granted him bail actually.”

He revealed that the District Security Council will be meeting with the Educational Director today[Monday] over the matter.

“When the incident happened , the DCE was not  around so we have to meet with him, to take a decision on what to do next..” he stated.

Meanwhile over thirty students who were arrested by the police have also been released on bail.

The school has since been closed down.
