School authorities have closed down the Tuna Senior High Technical School in the Sawla Tuna Kalba district in the Northern region.
This was after students of the school demonstrated last night over an inhumane act they say was meted out to a female student.

The female student whose identity is unknown is alleged to have been ordered by a male teacher to strip naked in front of her colleagues because the attire she was wearing was inappropriate.

Narrating the incident to Citi News, the News Editor of Yagbon radio in Bole in the Northern Region, Richard Forgor said “at around 9pm last night, while the students were at prep, the teacher observed that a female student was inappropriately dressed so the teacher asked her to remove her dress…”
He said the student, after receiving such an instruction, stripped naked in the presence of her other colleagues.
Forgor said the students who were angered by the instruction protested and vandalised properties in the school.
“The students protested after the teacher gave the directive and when the students were protesting one of the headmasters slapped a male student, resulting in a riot. The students destroyed the school bus.”
“They also went to their computer laboratory and made away with about three computers. The students also made away with about 100 mattresses,” he explained.
He revealed that over 30 students have been arrested in connection with the incident, adding that the school has also closed down.
Meanwhile Police in the area have stated that calm has returned to the school.
Speaking on Eyewitness News, Sawla-Tuna Kalba Divisional Police Commander, ASP Francis Numado said “all the arrested students have been granted bail”
The incident follows a riot at the St Paul Senior High School in the Volta Region.
