Five fined GH¢1,800 for stealing a dog

The Nyinahin Magistrate Court,  presided over by Mr. Sam Nibi, has ordered five persons convicted for stealing a dog to pay a total fine of GH¢1,800.

Philip Alimu, Francis Yaw Gyan, Kwaku Addai, Father Francis and Kwaku Dagadu, would each pay GH¢360, or in default, spend 45 days in prison.

This was after they pleaded guilty to the charges.

The five stole the animal at Asuokoko, a farming community near Sreso-Timpom in the Atwima-Mponua District, and takn it to another village, Dodowa, where they slaughtered and ate the meat.

Police Inspector Daniel Otabil told the court that the incident happened on November 20, last year.

They were arrested following investigation conducted by the owner of the dog, Mallam Awudu Rahman.
