Nigerian authorities are to investigate reports of abuse at the various camps which are housing persons who have been displaced following the activities of Islamist militant group, Boko Haram.

[contextly_sidebar id=”JkoIBo5x53G8PMvNjS5vIjGA4MvevkMn”]Some of the displaced persons are reportedly raped, while the children are allegedly trafficked.

Others are also inflicted with knife wounds and burns.

According to the BBC, Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has formed a panel to investigate the abuses.

Representatives from NEMA are to visit every camp for displaced people to ascertain the truth of the matter.

The investigations are in response to a report published by Nigeria’s Calabar-based International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR).

According to statistics, 3.2 million Nigerians have fled their homes to escape Boko Haram’s insurgency in the northeast.
