An Accra Circuit court presided over by Justice Helen Vivian Amoah has asked for a medical report of the prosecutor and investigator in the case involving a former Member of Parliament for Nkoranza North, Eric Amoateng.

[contextly_sidebar id=”P7VucjEdUhV9ty0KrI0UgH7W9UX3xL4E”]The judge requested for the medical report of DSP Derry and ASP Kwaku Ludorno after they refused to appear in court today due to ill health.

Amoateng was arrested upon his arrival from the United States where he served a ten-year jail term for illegal drug trafficking.

He was subsequently arrested by the Ghana Police at the Kotoka International Airport for possesing a fake passport.

After his arrest, the court granted him bail of GHC 200,000.

Meanwhile the lawyers for the accused have complained about the delays in the Amoateng case.

The lawyers said the freedom of their client is being curtailed.

Speaking to Citi News, Amoateng’s lawyer, Charles Pouzing said : “ever since he [Amoateng] came back to Ghana after serving his sentence, this trial has began so we are hoping that it will be done… early for him to start his new life but unfortunately its been slow.”
