The headline sponsor of the Black Stars, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has promised each member of the team $25,000 for the gallant performance they put up at the just ended African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Equatorial Guinea.

This is separate from all other bonuses from the team’s sponsor; Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) would pay to the players.

The Black Stars painfully missed out on an AFCON trophy on Sunday, when they lost the final on penalty shootouts to Cote D’Ivoire.

President Mahama made the announcement on Tuesday when the team today paid a courtesy call on him at the Flagstaff house.

He congratulated the Stars for the spirited display in the Tournament saying “the Black Stars have restored our confidence in the senior national football team.”
