Ghana Post has vowed to take advantage of the internet and other modern communication and technological platforms to expand its services and operation.

Samuel Adu Boafo, Acting Managing Director, said although technology had reduced the use of the physical letter mail, it had nonetheless presented them with an opportunity to expand their services through (electronic-commerce) e-commerce.

He made these remarks when he addressed the Ashanti Regional launch of collaboration between the company and Zoobashop, an online retail company, in Kumasi.

The partnership would allow shoppers and customers of Zoobashop to purchase items on the internet and receive them through designated post offices or in their homes and offices.

Mr Boafo said the Ghana Post had state-of-the-art Application Programming Interface which would enable it to integrate into existing online shops to deliver goods and services to every part of the nation.

It has also computerised 190 out of the 350 post offices and is currently using Enterprise Postal System (EPS) and International Postal System (IPS) software to drive its quality services.

He said technology had become a critical factor for the survival of the postal sector and that was why it was going to all lengths to use e-commerce to its advantage.

Mr Boafo was optimistic that the partnership with Zoobashop would offer convenient shopping experience for shoppers.

Albert Bigga, Chief Executive Officer of Zoobashop, said the public-private partnership would offer shoppers wonderful online shopping experience.
