The Presidency has been advised to come out to confirm or deny the rumors making rounds about the resignations and dismissals which have hit the seat of government.

[contextly_sidebar id=”KNLpTo45p6QlFSm5fOK7q9U73FPAzeiP”]There have been media reports suggesting that the Chief of Staff, Prosper Bani has been sacked while the President’s Executive Secretary, Raymond Atuguba and Ben Dotse Malor, the Communications Advisor to the President are expected to resign in the coming weeks.

So far, there has been no statement from the government on the matter.

However, in an interview on the Point Blank segment of Eyewitness News, the former Chief of Staff under the Kufuor administration, Kwadwo Mpiani said government’s silence on the matters is not “good for good governance.”

According to him, if the rumors are true “I believe it’s not good for good governance and therefore, somebody must come out to say whether these reports are true or not.”

He pointed out that government’s silence suggests to the ordinary Ghanaian, “it gives some semblance of something not going well at the center of government and that is not good for the country. It shows some sort of disarray.”

Mpiani was of the view that if somebody has resigned or has been sacked from the Presidency, there is nothing wrong for the news to be announced.

“When it becomes persistent rumors and nothing is coming out of it, and when you go up there to find some of them and you don’t get them in their offices, then it reinforces the belief that either they have resigned or they have been sacked and nobody is telling us what is happening.”

The former Chief of Staff advised that for good governance, an official from the office of the President must let the country know what is happening at the center of government.

He recommended that the Minister for Communication who is the spokesperson for the government “should come out and let us know exactly what is happening.
