50,000 data users joined Vodafone

Telecom giant, Vodafone Ghana led the pack of Telcos by gaining the most data subscribers in the month of November 2014.

Vodafone made a little above 50,000 new subscribers; shooting its base by about 1.86%.

This is contained in the market share report from the National Communication Authority (NCA) for the month of November 2014.

Following Vodafone’s lead, Tigo recorded a highest growth rate of 0.77% after it added about 16,119 new data subscribers.

This pushed its market share to a little above 13% represented by about 2.1million subscribers.

With a little above 8,000 new data subscribers, Expresso followed the title race.

It gained 25.87% shooting up its subscriber base to 40,470 which represent about 0.26% of the market share being the least in holding of the market share.

MTN followed with about 5,475 new subscribers shooting it data subscriber base by about 0.07%.

With a little above 8 million subscribers, MTN commands about 50.98% of the market share.

Interestingly, Airtel and Glo recorded declines in subscriber base in the month of November having seen gains in the month of October.

Airtel lost about 0.25% of its base which represents 5,356 subscribers.

This reduced its market share from 13.60% to 13.51%.

Airtel now has 2,122,743 data subscribers.

Glo was the worse loser in the month of November, its data subscription decreased by 1.16% with a resulting market share of 4.28%.

Interestingly, their subscriber base increased from 680,543 subscribers in October to 672,680 subscribers in November 2014.

Generally, the data market growth slowed down to 0.43%from a rate of 1.55% recorded in the previous month, November.
