The Power Minister, Dr. Kwabena Donkor has directed the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to publish the load shedding timetable and adhere to the announced time.

According to him, he shares the pain and agony most Ghanaians are going through presently.

Currently, ECG is shedding over 600 megawatts but the previous load shedding timetable was made to shed not more than 300 megawatts.

Dr. Donkor said industry players are working around the clock to resolve the problem.

He gave the assurance that the government is putting in emergency power measures to help reduce the power rationing which has intensified over the last few weeks.

The first batch of emergency plants is expected to arrive in the country be April 2015 to help salvage the situation.

He acknowledged that Achimota and Mallam areas in Accra have suffered more power outages than any area in the capital because they are the first point of defense for emergency power outages.

However, the Ashanti Region is not experiencing major power outages.

Dr. Donkor promised that load shedding will end this year although he was unable to give a definite timeline.
