About 49 illegal immigrants are being processed for repatriation following their arrest in the Krachie-Nchurum District in the Volta Region.

In a press briefing the Volta Regional Minister Madam Hellen Adjoa Ntoso said she was informed about their presence last night and she directed that they were kept in the police custody for investigations.
‘’Yesterday I had a call from my DCE at Krachie-Nchumuru that some fulanis have arrived in two benz buses at the police barrier at krachie-nuchurum. So I asked that they send all of them to police stations for the police to check their documents. The police realised that they didn’t have any document; they came straight from Nigeria to the area,” she revealed.
She said the planned destination of these illegal immigrants couldn’t have been the Krachie-Nchurumu district but due to their inability cross the Dambai River, they had to divert their route.
“Apparently what happened was that when the drivers got to Dambai; when they saw the river, they didn’t want to cross so they dumped all them at Dambai. And they took two deferent vehicles to Krachie-Nchumuru.”
She disclosed that the immigrants have subsequently been brought to Ho where they are being profiled for repatriation.
Madam Ntoso added that health officials have been invited to conduct an intense health screening on them while their documents are being processed by the immigration officers for repatriation.
She said documents found on them revealed that were from Oyo State in Nigeria.
The immigrants, mostly Fulanis were made up of eight male adults and the rest being women and children.
