Residents of Fafraha in the Adentan Municipality have petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to call the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo to order.

[contextly_sidebar id=”TLMzvLItaGjhghyxf3mqWMtgCxVWiv1B”]The residents say Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo and officials from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) have been harassing them and threatening to demolish their properties.

The residents, however, want President Mahama to intervene in the issue or they will advise themselves.

Speaking to Citi News, the Secretary of the Residents Association, Fred Adjei, said Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo is making life unbearable for them and that “indeed we’ve lived in fear for some time now as a result of the persistent threat from the CSIR and coupled by the actions of the regional minister in support of the conduct of the CSIR.”

“He, the Regional Minister and the chairman of REGSEC in the region, if there is a problem, what we expect him to do is to rather call the feuding factions and probably find an amicable solution to the issue but not to support one party against the other like he is doing,” he added.

In a related development, about 200 structures at the Manet Junction in the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipality have been earmarked for demolition.

The exercise is to pave way for the construction of a six-lane road which is expected to ease traffic on the Spintex Road.

Meanwhile, the affected persons in the area are unhappy about the situation and are pleading with authorities for more time.
