The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) will be meeting the Power Ministry over the weekend to review the ongoing load-shedding exercise.
The three-day conference follows complaints by the Association on the failure of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to strictly adhere to the load-shedding time table.
[contextly_sidebar id=”B72RJt0Nim9lTu6p5h9llBkJeygNye80″]On December 1, 2014, ECG extended the load-shedding exercise to all industrial enclaves across the country to help lessen the worsening energy crisis.
Some companies are reportedly laying off workers while some have significantly reduced the salaries of their workers due to the power crisis.
Speaking to Citi Business News, the President of the AGI, James Asare-Adjei said the meeting will afford AGI an opportunity to explain to its members, concerns and energy needs to the new Power Minister.
“You are aware of the challenges that industry is facing now with the power in the country. I would like us to talk about it so the association can be a little more substantive in the figures that are being sent around.”
“For this reason we are having a roundtable discussion with the Power Ministry which will have the Minister himself with us for three days and after that, we will issue a communiqué to come out very strongly to indicate the way forward on the power crises we are having as a country,” he explained.
