About 200 structures at the Manet Junction have been earmarked for demolishing today.
This exercise which is being undertaken by the authorities of the Ledzokuku Krowor Constituency (LEKMA) is to pave way for the construction of a six-lane road which is expected to ease traffic on the Spintex Road.

The traders and squatters who were seen removing their structures told Citi News’ Benjamin Epton Owusu that the short notice given them by city authorities was very inconsiderate and unfair.
One of the affected persons known as Gilbert suggested that the city authorities should have given them a six-month notice to move.
“They had to give us maybe six months so that we can move. We all, we are Ghanaians and if you treat Ghanaians like this, what do you want me to do? Do you want me to go out and steal? We have not received any compensation; nothing like that,” he fumed.
A worried looking Cynthia; a second hand clothing dealer said she had to dump her container which served as her shop in the bush because there was no available land anywhere for her to place it on.
“I don’t want them to come and destroy it and as for my things, I parked them into somebody’s house,” she said.
Some seamstresses who are now working from under a tree in the area appealed to the President to intervene saying, “we don’t know what to do so we are waiting for the President to help us.”
Meanwhile, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA), Daniel Amartey explained to Citi News that the assembly gave the traders enough notice.
He argued that “for more than six months, we have given them notice and the final notice came three weeks ago. We had been given them the notification through our vans and even yesterday [Tuesday], I went on TV to tell everybody to move so that we can do the road and you can see that people are participating.”
He added that the engineers on the project are ready and will not tolerate any delays.
