Speaking to Citi News a Deputy Minister of Water Resources Works and Housing, Sampson Ahi said the inquiry was triggered by a complaint of embezzlement made against Dr Akwei Ankrah by workers of the company.
“He has been asked to step aside because there were petitions from staff members of State Housing Company complaining about the financial malfeasance by the managing director,” the deputy minister said.
According to him, the committee has been given one month to submit their findings to the Ministry.
Mr Ahi further explained the committee’s role as to “conduct investigation into the allegations to ascertain whether there is truth in it or it’s just a mere allegation against the Managing Director.”
Dr Ankrah has also been accused of demanding and receiving an amount of GH¢36, 000 every month to pay for his phone bills.
