An Accra High Court presided over by Justice John Ajet–Nasam will rule on an interlocutory injunction application  seeking to hinder the HFC Bank from organizing an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) this [Friday] morning.

The meeting scheduled for January 20, 2015  was suspended following the suit by 2 shareholders challenging the organization of the meeting.

The EGM was requisitioned by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to cause the removal and replacement of two non-executive independent directors, Muriel Edusei and Francis Koranteng from the HFC Bank Board.

[contextly_sidebar id=”PcT7IFvWLqvuim1ujRhQgnzHS0eUvUII”]There are thirteen defendants in the suit and they include SSNIT and its Director General Ernest Thompson.

Meanwhile the General Manager and General Counsel for SSNIT, Peter Hayibor has challenged an earlier statement from the Managing Director of HFC Bank cancelling the meeting on January 20.

According to him, Asare Akuffo had no authorization from shareholders to cancel the Extraordinary General Meeting.

In an interview with Citi Business News, Peter Hayibor said per an earlier Court order HFC Bank is expected to reschedule the Extraordinary General Meeting to another date to allow for the hearing of the interlocutory injunction today.
