A legal practitioner, Mr Egbert Faibille has revealed that there is a huge possibility for Mr. Gbevlo Lartey to be dragged to the Supreme Court on charges of contempt.

This, he said, was because it was necessary for Mr. Gbevlo Lartey “to explain  the law that authorises him to pull down structures of the University of Ghana.”

His comments follow the demolition of the University’s toll booth by the some personnel of National Security.

Responding to criticisms against the demolition, the National security Coordinator, Lt. Col. Larry Gbevlo-Lartey (Rtd) said the toll booth at the Okponglo entrance of the University of Ghana was demolished because it was a  nuisance to the public.

But in a rebuttal, Mr Faibille said on Eyewitness News that “if Mr Gbevlo Lartey takes a drive from his office to Legon , he will see further instances of public nuisances before he even gets to the University of Ghana.”

“How is it possible that a National Security Coordinator who is an employee of and the national government works up to a national security which is headed by the President of the republic and go to the University of Ghana which is supposed to be a private property and raze down a toll booth that he maintained is causing traffic,” he asked.

In his opinion, the demolition was illegal and unlawful adding that it showed the how the nation has degenerated into.

A member of the Roads and Transport Committee,Mr. Joe Osei-Owusu also described the action as the worst form of hooliganism and indiscipline.

”They could have asked the University to remove it or relocate it because it was causing traffic…..,” he suggested.
