The Paramount Chief of the Wala traditional area, Naa Fuseini Pelpuo IV has called for the inclusion of chiefs in revenue mobilization drive in municipals and district assemblies in the Upper West region order to maximize revenue in their respective assemblies.

According to Citi News’ Latif Mahama, the Chief advised assembly members not to rely on common funds but collaborate with key opinion leaders to raise money for projects.
“Too much dependence on common fund alone cannot solve our problems. I am suggesting to the Wala municipal assembly to revisit the mood of revenue sourcing to include traditional rulers as agent as it was in those days. This will go a long way to support the finance of the municipal assembly in its development programmes,” he said.
According to Naa Fuseini Pelpuo IV, the increasing trends of population have over-burden government in its development drive, hence the need for assemblies to adopt pragmatic measures to address the growing demands of the people.
The Damba festival offers an opportunity for Chiefs and people in the Wala traditional area to meet the President of the traditional counsel. It is also a moment for stock taking to and planning the development agenda for the upcoming years.
