Following threats by the chiefs and people of the Asogli state in the Volta region, that they will replace the Police with their traditional warriors to provide security,  the Police Administration has deployed more officers to the area to protect the people.

The angry Asogli chief threatened to take their safety into their own hands after they expressed concerns over the spate of criminal activities in the area.

In an interview with Citi News, the Volta Regional Police Commander ACP Peterkin Yentumi Gyinae disclosed that about 30 police officers have been deployed from the National Headquarters to the area to beef up the local patrol team and intensify surveillance in the area.

According to them, the area was steadily becoming a hotbed of crime and vowed to deploy their warriors to protect the lives and properties of the people.

The latest was an attack on a private health facility in Ho where the robbers assaulted the workers and made away with medical equipment and an undisclosed amount of money.

ACP Peterkin Yentumi Gyinae said ‘We have since increased our High Visibility Patrols in the area and there are regular patrols at the hotspots’’.

He assured residents of their safety and encouraged them to supply the Police with information on criminal activities in the area.
