Officials of the Bureau of National Investigation(BNI) have picked up 10 workers, including top figures of the Central Medical Stores for questioning.

The invitation follows a fire outbreak at the stores which destroyed medical items worth over  GH¢ 200 million.

According to the Daily Guide, the affected staff, were interrogated but were not detained.

The fire which lasted for hours was finally doused last Wednesday by fire fighters.

The incident has raised concerns that public hospitals nationwide will be starved of medical supplies but the Health Minister has given the assurance that there are supplies at the various regional stores , which will last for about three months.

In a related development  the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is placing emphasis on the full protection of all key national assets and installation as well as warehouses nationwide.

A statement issued by the Public Relations Department of the GNFS said the decision is in view of the severe nature of the harmattan weather and the recent spate of fire outbreaks.
