The board of Directors of the Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMT) has been dissolved.

[contextly_sidebar id=”aVBC7rMUjyqaQWsfDQ8gBfvDezqxQc4e”]A statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Prosper Bani mentioned that the Managing Director of MMT, Noble John Appiah and his Deputy, John Awuku Dzuazah have also been asked to step aside.

This is to allow investigation to commence into the operations of the company

The President, John Mahama has since directed Brigadier General I. B. Quartey (rtd) to take over the management of the company pending conclusion of the investigation.

This comes on the back of an indefinite strike which was embarked on by the workers of the company on Monday followed by a demonstration in Accra demanding the dismissal of the Board chair, Osabarima Ansah Sasraku III and Deputy Managing Director, John Awuku Dzuazah.

They accused them of being responsible for the disappearance of 12 buses belonging to the company.

Passengers nationwide were left stranded as a result of the strike but the MMT workers however called off the strike after the intervention of the Transport Minister, Dzifa Ativor.

They however indicated that they will petition the President to intervene in the matter to save the company from a possible collapse.
