The Minister for Power Dr Kwabena Donkor has disclosed his ministry will find creative ways of mobilizing and collecting revenue to fund their projects without recourse to government and also strengthen their balance sheet for financial transactions in the open market.
[contextly_sidebar id=”6VCfou8zyDsxA7O0PIZREQUoSdUhDUrE”]The Minister who made the disclosure during the swearing in of a member of thegoverning board of Ghana grid Company’s (GRIDCO), also said ministries, departments, and other state institutions will all be put on prepaid electric meters to ensure proper accountability.
“We will aggressively ensure state institutions including schools, hospitals, barracks etc pay their electricity bills as required; we know these state institutions budget for electricity so we will work closely with their mother ministries to ensure that their bills are paid,” the Minister stated.
He urged the board member, Mr Ofori-Amanfo to bring his vast experience from the financial sector to bear on activities of GRIDCO; the country’s main power transmission company, as their role is critical in ensuring stability in the power sector.
Mr Ofori-Amanfo is a Chartered Accountant by profession and has worked as Managing Partner for Virtual Points Associates, Country Manager for Ghana and The Gambia for North American Airlines as well as Expenditure Accountant for the Ghana Airways and Unliver Ghana Limited.
