The Central Medical Stores at the Tema industrial area has been gutted by fire.
According to Citi News’ Elvis Washington, the fire started around 9:45am on Tuesday.
He reported that the fire begun when someone tried to burn refuse behind the medical stores.
The Central Medical stores is a place where medical equipment are stored for onward distribution across the country.
Elvis Washington said that, though the fire service team arrived at the scene on time, they are struggling to douse the fire because of the chemicals in the building.
He said there are several fire fighters at the scene trying to bring the fire under control but they could not access water from the four hydrants around the area hence hiring the services of private water tankers to supply them with water to put out the fire.
He added that the fire has spread to the stationary warehouse and is still blazing.
Meanwhile some of the workers have started parking their things from the various offices.
