A Human Rights Court will today hear an application for bail filed by lawyers for ace broadcaster Kwesi Kyie Darkwa, popularly known as KKD, after being accused of raping a 19 year old lady, Ewuraffe Orleans Thompson.

KKD is currently in Police custody after a District court in Accra earlier refused to grant him bail.

His lawyers have resorted to a higher court to seek bail for him as according to them, the District court does not have the locus to grant their client bail over a case such as rape.

KKD has maintained that he did not rape Ewuraffe Orleans Thompson, and that they had a “consensual” sexual intercourse.
