A 50-year-old businessman, Alhaji Abdullah Alidu ,has been shot dead by unknown assailants outside his home at TUC, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti region.

The incident happened about 8pm on Friday night.

The deceased, Alhaji Abdullah Alidu, was found dead in a pool of blood with bullet holes in his head and belly.

Speaking to Citi News, the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Tanko Mohammed, disclosed that the shooting was not related to an armed robbery case.

He said the victim was subsequently rushed to the hospital to receive medical attention.

ASP Tanko further revealed that the Police has commended investigations into the incident.

” A post mortem was done on the body …we have commenced investigations into the incident and we will do everything possible to uncover the mystery behind his death,” he stated.

“For now we have not been able to find any evidence that point to robbery because his bag was intact with its content; and we cannot point or pin it to robbery but rather a murder case’, ASP Tanko added.

ASP Tanko also appealed to  the general public to assist the police with any information that might lead to the identity and whereabouts of the perpetrators.

The Ashanti region has in recent times recorded a number of shooting incidents that have left some persons injured and others dead.

An armed robbery case recorded in the region left a Abropo branch manager of Ecobank dead.
