The paramount chief of Tamale, Gukpe-Naa Alhassan Abdulai has unveiled his plan to launch the “Gukpe-Naa Development Fund.”

This forms part of his agenda to attract multinationals to the Tamale Metro Area to strengthen government’s Public-Private Partnership drive as the engine of socio-economic development.

Gukpe-Naa Alhassan Abdulai divulged this to the media on the occasion of the Damba festival celebrated at the forecourt of his palace near the Tamale Barclays Bank main.

He charged residents of the area to zealously safeguard the peace they have enjoyed over the years by discarding what he described as unnecessary petty squabbles on chieftaincy and political lines.

“I admonish all stakeholders in the region to do away with the unnecessary strains and team up with the traditional rulers and the security to maintain the peace and unity that we have enjoyed in the metropolis.”

Gukpe-Naa Alhassan Abdulai commended the media for positively projecting the area.

He thus impressed upon the media to liaise with his traditional authority to rebrand the Tamale Metropolis as the gateway to the Sahel.

“It is my conviction that as partners in development you the media will support this generous course with the greatest certainty.”

He also lauded government’s forward march to improve sanitation in the Tamale metropolis and called for concerted efforts to achieve the goal.

“I hereby implore the general public with the support of the traditional rulers and the assembly to ensure the success and sustainability of the national sanitation exercise.

Gukpe-Naa Alhassan Abdulai further thanked corporate organizations and individuals for their immense contribution to his chiefdom.
