The Manhyia Palace has denied reports that its security guards have been sacked over a leaked video in which President John Mahama and Asantehene were seen dancing to the controversial “Yenie Obiaa” song.

[contextly_sidebar id=”wu1e7rBeNrUlWJtzILRW9PM8bAUeQsn8″]According to the Chief of Staff to the Asantehene, Kwame Aboagye Mensah the palace has only increased security to prevent persons with phones, and other recording gadgets from having access to the Asantehene.

An earlier publication by the chronicle newspaper alleged that security guards at the Manhyia Palace were sacked after the video went viral on social media.

The video however attracted intense criticism from some Ghanaians.

But Mr. Aboagye Mensah insists that all the security personnel are still at post adding that “there hasn’t been any change of guards here at the palace. What the palace has done is to beef up security in and around the palace and institute some restrictions as to people going in to see the king with gargets like recording devices or mobile phones.”

“The story is untrue. We have some measures already in place but it was a bit relaxed there was a breach that is why people had access to the king with such devices and we’ve just instituted the measures to curtail such occurrence,” he added.

Though no information about who is actually responsible for the recording and leaked video, security personnel around the Palace has been held responsible.
