The New Patriotic Party(NPP) has the worst record of official complicity in narcotic-related issues, the National Democratic Congress(NDC) has alleged.

The NPP on Wednesday issued a statement, alleging that revelations by the jailed cocaine courier, Nayele  Ametefe shows that the government is complicit in the scandal.

[contextly_sidebar id=”1SnegdSvoWkabOVOrlI9SQWBt4YL1Wow”]The party’s Communications Director of the NPP, Nana Akomea explained that the party arrived at the decision based on confessions made by Nayele “about her relationship with very powerful people in this country.”

However speaking to Citi News, the National Organiser of the NDC, Kofi Adams  advised the NPP to refrain from commenting on such issues.

He said the NPP will be better off keeping quiet on  the issue.

“ I will advise Nana Akomea who has been appointed as Communications Director of NPP, that he has a responsibility to help NPP,” he stated.

“He will help NPP better if he stays away from commenting on matters relating to drugs because it is very clear that in this country when we want to talk about drugs and we want to politicize it, the first party that will come to a day old’s mind is the NPP …” he added.

Nayele was arrested at the Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom (UK)  after 12 kg of cocaine was found on her.

She has been sentenced to eight years, eight months imprisonment by a London court.
