Commuters should expect 5% reduction in transport fares, from Friday, 9, 2015, the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has announced.

The National Petroleum Authority’s (NPA) reduced fuel prices by 10% following a fall in crude oil prices on the world market.

The GPRTU has maintained transport fares despite a reduction in fuel prices.

He announced that the list of current transport fares will be posted at various terminals on Friday to prevent the scuffles that usually ensue between commuters and drivers anytime new fares are announced.

Mr Okudjeto explained: “we will do the calculation for the drivers and they will post it at their various loading points for passengers to see”.

He added that drivers who fail to reduce fares will be sanctioned.
