The Police administration has conferred on the late Police Officer, Constable Prince Akatah a posthumous promotion elevating him to the position of police corporal.
Prince Akatah who is believed to be in his late twenties was shot on Wednesday after a gun battle between the Police and twelve armed robbers at Weija, in Accra.
The armed men were on a robbery spree in Accra when Police intelligence led to their arrest.
Two of the robbers were killed in the fire exchange, six others were arrested, and the other aciphex four escaped with gunshot wounds.
The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Alhassan who made this known when he visited the family of the deceased officer said his promotion is in recognition of his “bravery and love for his nation”
“The work of the Police is that of life and death but once we have decided to do it, we need to be committed and do it from our heart. That is what this young officer did,” he said.
