Popular boxer, Braimah Kamoko, alias Bukom Banku is in the grips of the police for allegedly beating up and injuring people at Bukom in Accra.
He is also alleged to have vandalized properties in the area.
The Accra Police Command has confirmed this to Citi News but did not say what triggered the said incident.
However, there are reports that it happened during an annual traditional ceremony,’Kpashimo’, where a group of singers go round in a procession, singing to spite anyone believed to be guilty of a wrongdoing in the year under review.
Bukom Banku who has reportedly been a willing participant of the ceremony over the years, opposed this year’s ceremony following news that the procession had intended to sing against the boxer’s fetish priestess wife, Amoah Woyoo also known by her fetish name, Ohua Broni.
The ‘Kpashimo’ procession were, however, unwilling to have their annual ritual undermined by the boxer, resulting in the reported fracas.
Allsports reported that the victim lodged a complaint at the Police station who subsequently arrested Bukom Banku at his residence.
A soure reportedly told the sports website the the boxer “has always been part of [the ‘Kpaashimo’ entourage], he always joins them on the procession every year and even last year when a certain guy was accused of rape, he was the one who had a small coffin made on which he wrote the accused guy’s name on it and carried along the procession.”
“But this year he didn’t want them to sing because it was against his wife who had her fetish homecoming some few months ago,” the source added.
This is the second time the controversial boxer has been arrested.
He was arrested on November 7 2014, for allegedly assaulting one Richmond Armah, a 28-year-old footballer.
