Black Stars midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu believes that success at the 2015 African Cup Of Nations is possible if the players can stay injury-free before and during the tournament.

A 26-man provisional squad named by head coach, Avram Grant, which includes, Abdul Majeed Waris and Christian Atsu, has travelled to Spain as part of preparations towards the AFCON which kicks-off on January 17.

The Udinese midfielder told Montie FM: “So far everything is going on well. Fortunately, we have (Mubarak) Wakaso and John Boye too in camp. We are hoping for an injury-free and see what will happen in Spain – and after that, we tackle the tournament in Equatorial Guinea,” he stated.

Badu also spoke of his new coach Avram Grant, who he believes could lead the team to AFCON success.

“He (Avram Grant) has been wonderful, thank God, no injuries; we are enjoying the tactics of the coach and we’re learning so much from him.

“He’s a wonderful coach, we laugh with each other and he made us aware that we have to be free and do whatever we want on the pitch,” he added.

“We’re hoping we can learn the tactics fast and continue like this and tackle the tournament and do something for the country.”

Agyemang Badu has been an ever-present for the Black Stars at the AFCON since Angola 2010 and says it is every player’s dream to play at the tournament.

“I think every player wants to [be at the] AFCON; so I’m very, very proud to be there and I’m hoping to do something for the nation.”

Ghana face Africa’s number one ranked side Algeria, Senegal and South Africa in Group C in Equatorial Guinea.
