Investigations are underway to find the perpetrators of the fire which razed down the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) warehouse at the Aflao sub-station in the Volta Region.

[contextly_sidebar id=”I0F0GnpD8KwpSUXrRCtaSNcsEytHtQBL”]The Fire Service personnel and the Police are yet to identify the person(s) who set fire to the bush near the warehouse.

Some equipment which were purchased to upgrade the sub-station was not speared in the fire outbreak on Sunday.

According to an official at the sub-station who spoke to Citi News on condition of anonymity, the installation of the equipment was to be carried out on Monday.

He told Citi News the fire started in a bush behind the yard of the sub-station but the dry weather conditions made the fire rapidly spread into the yard of the sub-station.

Power has been cut to neighbouring communities although the main sub-station has been spared.

On Saturday, the Melcom shopping mall’s warehouse and service centre at the North Industrial area in Accra was gutted by fire.

Prior to that, a six year old and a nine month old baby were killed in another fire outbreak in Osu in Accra.

The Ghana National Fire Service has warned Ghanaians to exercise caution when using potentially inflammable devices in their homes especially during the  harmattan season.
