The clergy in the Volta region have charged the two feuding factions in the Alavanyo and Nkonya townships to embrace peace especially in 2015.
The Moderator Elect of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Rev. Dr Seth Agidi in an interview with Citi News on the side line of the annual ritual at the EP church Dela Parish in Ho, appealed to residents especially the youth of the two feuding traditional areas to exercise restraint and give peace a chance.

“As a result of this conflict, the two areas have not been experiencing much development projects since government is compelled to channel resources into the peace process,’’ he noted.
He maintained that citizens should abide by the laws and regulations governing the country and encouraged the youth of Alavanyo and Nkonya to observe the curfew imposed on them.
“As we begin this year my prayer is that our friends and families in Nkonya and Alavanyo would understand each other and resolve to co-exist peacefully,” he appealed.
In December, Some residents in Nkonya and Alavanyo have refused to adhere to the 14-hour curfew imposed on them.
The residents in the two feuding communities claimed they are not secured even with the presence of the security agencies and vowed to resist any attempt to make them observe the curfew.
At the central Assembly’s God church in Ho, the Volta regional superintendent of Assembly of God, Ghana and the a native of Alavanyo Rev Joseph Senyo Pongo, commended leaders and the security agencies in the region for “professionally curtailing the unrest from escalating.”
He said the situation is also affecting the church, saying that some Christians in the area do not feel safe congregating in the midst of the troubles.
A parcel of land which became a bone of contention for the two communities over nine decades has claimed several lives while others have been brutally injured.
In a related development the Volta Regional Superintendent Minister (RSM) of the Apostles Revelation Society, Rev Gershon Doe Gagbetor and the Pastor Richmond Mensah of The Church of Pentecost Dekpor District in the Aflao Area, havealso joined the clarion call for peace by advising Ghanaians to remain united and tolerant.
