The Keta Municipal Hospital risks losing health professionals due to inadequate accommodation for the hospital staff.
[contextly_sidebar id=”GG8lwUW2aAlAeVgWMrCWPh0j4Wj7lEsN”]The Administrator of the Hospital, Mr Serene Akpanya observed that although some of the indigenes have migrated to the cities leaving their rooms vacant, most of them are not willing to release these rooms to the hospital staff.
This according to him had left most of the hospital staff stranded in looking for places to lay their heads.
He said the few that were fortunate to have the rooms had it far away from the hospital facility which he added was affecting prompt response to emergencies especially during the night.
The situation he said is generally crippling the operations of the Keta Municipal hospital as some workers are threatening to drift to other health facilities.
His worry was made known on the side-lines of the maiden open day celebration held at the forecourt of the hospital in Keta.
The day offered an opportunity to the town folks and the staff of the hospital to discuss the state of affairs of the hospital and also make plans of improving health delivery in the area.
He therefore assured residents of their safety and but pleaded with the community leaders to support activities of the hospital.
The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Kwasi Bediako Asare said the occasion gave them the chance to get feedback from the community that they are serving. ‘One could be charting a path without knowing its straightness except those behind’’ he explained.
Citations and awards were presented to some deserving staff and retirees of the facility.
The Keta Municipal Hospital built in the southern Volta in 1926 and has over the years been the main referral facility for patients in the south.
