The acting National Coordinator of the National Youth Authority (NYA) Ras Mubarak is calling for reforms in the National Democratic Congress'(NDC) constitution on the selection of Parliamentary candidates.

Ras Mubarak is advocating for an expansion in the number of delegates who vote during Parliamentary primaries.

The NDC made some sweeping changes in its electoral processes at the 8th National Delegates Congress.

[contextly_sidebar id=”Q277fReetGQTlyIuLEC4buZwlGjGZZkX”]But it failed to expand voters list for Parliamentary primaries.

As it stands now, only constituency executives and branch executives vote to select Parliamentary candidates.

Ras Mubarak who is a failed parliamentary aspirant of the NDC in the Ablekuma North constituency in the 2012 elections, believes an expansion of the Parliamentary Electoral College will augur well for the NDC.

“So far as National Executives are concerned, the expansion of the Electoral College is bereft. It  is welcoming news for all of us in the NDC but for those of us interested in running Parliament it becomes difficult if we are only concentrating on nine delegates polling stations. We have to start the conversation into making these reforms far reaching enough as far as Parliamentary primary is concerned,” he stated.
