The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has promised to work harder to retain the party in power in 2016.

Speaking to Citi News, Asiedu Nketia said the new NDC leadership has all it takes to make history in 2016.

“…I can tell you we will make it. I’m very impressed about the team that has come on board and I think that together with the wonderful presidential candidate we will would have no problem making the history that we want are about to make.

The NDC will be the first party to stay in power for three consecutive terms if it wins the 2016 elections.

Asiedu Nketsia maintained his position as the party’s General Secretary by polling 2,385 while Farrakhan his contender managed only 606 votes.

Nketia was initially expected to go unopossed until Farrakhan declared his intentions of challenging him.

In an earlier interview with Citi News, Farrakhan said party delegates are fed up with the incumbent Nketia.

He said his campaign trips to all 10 regions of Ghana have revealed that Mr. Asiedu Nketia is disliked by the grassroot members of the NDC.

But he was beaten by Mr. Nketia who says he will work hard to keep opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) out of government for four more years.
