PS44Sony has sold more than 5.3 million PlayStation 4 units as of Feb. 8, 2014, the company has announced.

The console, which launches in Japan on Feb. 22, has been selling well right from the start. Sony sold more than one million units in the first 24 hours after its launch in North America on Nov. 15, 2013.

“We are delighted that according to the NPD Group’s latest data, PS4 was January’s top-selling console in the United States. The PS4 system’s momentum just keeps growing stronger, and we are extremely grateful for the continued passion and support of PlayStation fans,” said Andrew House, President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.
