Sierra Leone has resolved to mount house-to-house searches in its capital city, Freetown in a bid to find hidden cases of Ebola.

According to BBC, President Ernest Bai Koroma  has issued a directive, banning  and restricting Sunday trading and  travel districts respectively.

[contextly_sidebar id=”lUIbR0ZTHBh8FzSsbZkmGLh4Wxrggaet”]Koroma believes the directive will help break the increasing spate of transmission.

The measures  follow a decision by authorities to ban public celebrations including Christmas and New Year festivities to contain the deadly disease.

Sierra Leone is reportedly one of the African countries worst hit by Ebola.

In addition to the blanket Sunday trading ban, the new measures will include time restrictions on Saturday and weekday shopping.

Freetown has recorded more than 50% of all Ebola infections in Sierra Leone over the past two weeks.

The country’s latest estimate of the cumulative number of cases recorded since the deadly disease broke in March now stands at 7,780 in Sierra Leone 7,719 in Liberia and 2,283 in Guinea respectively.

The outbreak of the disease in three West African countries, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone since March 2014 has claimed about 6,580 lives.
