The Chiefs and people of Alavanyo and Nkonya, the two feuding towns in the Volta Region have rendered an unqualified apology to President Mahama following recent clashes in the two towns.
The Chiefs, represented by Ankobeahene of the Nkonya traditional area, Nana Apem Dankoh III said the two towns have failed to live up to a promise of ensuring peace in the area.
[contextly_sidebar id=”KUkzQSwK3j5tou2ohbvxyQWg8UPOSKJC”]Residents in both towns have been suffering continuous conflicts emanating from a protracted land dispute between both towns.
The six decade old conflict has claimed hundreds of lives and left several others injured.
A recent attack on a local farmer resulted in the imposition of a 4pm to 6am curfew in the town.
Addressing the press in Ho, Nana Ampem Dankoh described the situation as regrettable.
“We the chiefs, the queen mothers and infact the entirety of Alavanyo and Nkonya traditional area wish to render an unqualified apology to his excellency John Dramani Mahama, for letting him down,”he said.
He further noted that miscreants causing mayhem in the area will be dealt with by the Police.
“Miscreants among us, your days are numbered. You will no longer hide behind the so called conflicts to commit crimes with impunity. The law will definitely catch up with you.”
