nhis new logoThe National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) is announcing that due to the overwhelming numbers of persons hoping to biometrically register with the health insurance scheme, it is increasing terminals for registration at selected centres.

Some NHIA centres are also extending their working hours to make sure all clients are served.

This, the Authority says is to ensure more people are attended to simultaneously.

The NHIA is undertaking a biometric registration exercise as a means of issuing instant NHIS cards to its subscribers.

The biometric system of registration according to the Authority is to enable them effectively build efficiently an ID card management regime and help the Authority verify card bearers at provider sites as NHIS subscribers report for medical care.

A statement signed by the Communications Manager for the NHIA, Selorm Adonoo appealed to the public to exercise patience as they await their turn at the registration centres.

Meanwhile, subscribers of the health insurance scheme can use both the old and new cards to access health care until the old ones are gradually phased out.
