A Deputy Minister of Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has described as deeply embarrassing, Nana Akufo-Addo’s “gaffe” on the cost of the Kasoa Interchange project.

Nana Akufo-Addo at the second Aliu Mahama memorial lecture challenged the figures quoted by government and advised President John Mahama to re-evaluate the project cost through an open tender.

[contextly_sidebar id=”TAbE364acbaYci7hJPwq5OaduLjXshQ5″]Nana Addo said he strongly believed that the price of $172-million was inflated by the government.

He said: “I accept that the government is not building an ordinary interchange. But as I have said, many have expressed deep anxieties about the cost and it is definitely one of the things leading to the perception of corruption in government.”

However, in a post on his Facebook page, Mr. Ofosu Kwakye said the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2016 presidential candidate’s “abject failure to check with his party’s MPs who approved the loan agreement for the project before making the false claim that the contract sum was inflated …reveals a troubling lack of thoroughness and attention to detail which is hardly the stuff that Presidents are made.”

“On any day, President Mahama trumps Mr Akufo-Addo…Mr. Akufo-Addo’s high profile gaffe on the Kasoa Interchange project must be deeply embarrassing for his followers,” he added.

The Minister of Roads and Highway, Inusah Fuseini has also descended on Nana Addo for making what he describes as unsubstantiated claims about the project.

He opined that Nana Addo was ill-informed on the cost involved in undertaking the project.
