The Minister of Roads and Highways, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, has said the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo was ill-informed on the cost involved in the construction of the Kasoa interchange.

[contextly_sidebar id=”VJqAVzj4mhm7QMdQLUrFKA5AyiVaTc4G”]The Minister pointed out that Nana Addo misrepresented the facts regarding the Kasoa project

Nana Akufo-Addo at the second Aliu Mahama memorial lecture challenged the figures quoted by government and advised President Mahama to re-evaluate the project cost through an open tender.

According to him, he has every right to suspect that the price of $172-million was bloated by the government.

He said: “I accept that the government is not building an ordinary interchange. But as I have said, many have expressed deep anxieties about the cost and it is definitely one of the things leading to the perception of corruption in government.”

Speaking on Eyewitness News on Wednesday, Inusah Fuseini argued that the claims made by Nana Akufo-Addo is “ill advised and ill-informed.”

He said the project proposal and costing has gone through the necessary evaluation in Parliament and wondered if Nana Akufo-Addo had been properly briefed by the NPP MPs in Parliament.

“Nana Akufo-Addo talked about interchange and let it be said that there is going to be three interchanges. That alone is a clear manifestation that Nana Addo does not understand and was not properly briefed on what is going on at the Kasoa interchanges,” he stated.

He claimed that the statement made by the NPP’s flagbearer was borne out of malice and not in the interest of the public.

The sector Minister added that “if Nana was pursuing public interest, nothing prevents him for asking for inquiring at the Ministry of Roads and Highways to understand and ascertain what is involved in the construction of the Kasoa interchanges.”
